In my endless goal to evolve and improve, I have decided to drop something which used to be part of my routine. From now on, my books will not have a release date. There is one exception, and I will get into that in a bit.
I’ve made this decision for a simple reason. Deadlines used to be the biggest motivation for me to finish a book and release it. That was only the case because I was still new to writing books in general. From age 8 through age 24, I could only get a large sum of writing done if I was only writing it for myself. Deadlines pushed me harder to get the next chapter done. But with 4 books done now, 2 of them novels, I’m not new to this anymore. Now, I can write entire chapters, between 3,500 and 7,500 words long, in a single day, on a good day.
Now, deadlines are a hindrance. Now, they motivate me to be lazy, instead of productive. I keep thinking to myself, Eh, I still have months left to finish this. I can do nothing for today. Then, one day turns into a week, and a week turns into a month. No more. I don’t want anything getting in the way of me writing to my heart’s content. Why do deadlines hold me back now? Because I figure, What’s the point in writing when I won’t have this released for a long time?
There will be one partial exception to this new way of doing things, and one major exception.
As for the partial exception, that involves pre-orders.
All of my books will be available for pre-order as soon as the book is complete, and they will remain as pre-order for one month, then released. I will be using pre-orders purely for business reasons. Pre-orders will be half the price of the permanent price, so the best time to buy my books will be the month before their release.
What’s this mean for the Remnant Saga? Well, the release dates I’ve already announced will merely be my ‘maximum timeframe’ from now on. Those dates will only be the longest I will allow myself to take on any individual one. Relics, the upcoming novel, just might be released this year, in 2018. Maybe. If all goes well, I believe the seventh and final novel will be released by the year 2022, or sooner.
Haven’t seen the cover for Volume III yet? Here it is…
The only major exception to this new way of doing things is my upcoming autobiography, Atheist Miracles. That will still be a June 19 release, and that is because there is something very serious in the book that still hasn’t resolved yet, and I must wait until June for the matter to be resolved. I’m sure that sounds confusing, but trust me, it’ll make sense when you read the book.
